‘Gender Equality movement in school for boys’ (GEMS) program is based on engaging boys especially in schools studying in VI-VIII. Vikalp, with the support of International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) has adopted and implemented the GEMS in around 108 schools in multiple sites of Mavli Block reaching around 5000 students. Capacity building teacher training sessions are being given to take boys through a journey of critical self-reflection, to help them understand the harmful attitudes associated with the gendered concept of being an “Ideal and real man”. They also learn gender equitable behaviors and create spaces in schools where boys can talk on the issues and pressures that they face during adolescence.
The film covers the work of Oxfam India partner Vikalp in Rajasthan who have trained men in the community as changemeakers on the issue of violence against women.
